Our Hospice program provides care for terminally ill patients who wish to remain at home. Hospice care involves support for patients and their loved ones. It is not so much a place, but rather an approach to health care emphasizing symptom management while helping patients and families to cope with psychosocial and spiritual issues. UC Davis Hospice serves patients of all ages, including newborns and children, as well as adults.
REQUIRED - Minimum of three years paid RN experience in hospice care - knowledge of hospice care principles and practices with the scope of palliative medicine - BSN required - Possession of valid California RN license - Graduation from an accredited school of nursing - Passing of UCDMC Performance Demonstration, Policy Review and Medication Exam - IV Therapy Certified - CPR Certification - PREFERRED - Five year of supervisory experience, preferably in hospice care - Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) - Public Health Nurse (PHN)
The Clinical Supervisor will be available, on a daily basis, to staff necessary patient/family visits. The Clinical Supervisor coordinates staffing scheduling and is responsible for maintaining staff productivity standards. The Clinical Supervisor has the authority to authorize necessary overtime and the responsibility to be involved in budget planning and program development. The Clinical Supervisor is also involved in the hiring, orientation, and training of all team staff. The Clinical Supervisor acts as the clinical resource for the team. Working under the direction of the Hospice Manager, the Clinical Supervisor oversees all plans and care/plans of treatment, and other required documentation for the assigned team, and participates in problem solving, PI functions, meeting Joint Commission and compliance standards.
