The Executive Director of Nursing reports to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer. Under limited supervision, the Executive Director of Nursing oversees and provides leadership for all clinical and support activities for their areas of responsibility. This role interacts proactively with other directors, leaders, physicians, nurses and other members of the health care delivery team to achieve desired outcomes. The Executive Director of Nursing works also with Directors to align practice across the continuum of care for their areas.
A master’s degree in nursing and five(5) years responsible experience in administration or in a closely related activity, of which at least three (3) years were in a management capacity in a children’s and or perinatal hospital environment; or a master’s degree in a related healthcare field or management with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and five (5) years responsible experience in administration or in a closely related activity, of which at least three (3) years were in a management capacity in a children’s and or perinatal hospital environment. An in-depth knowledge of the healthcare industry and trends is necessary. Expertise in goal setting, budget management, performance improvement/quality and management of staff is needed. Excellent communication skills are necessary. Ability to work collaboratively with others and to effectively oversee complex operational functions (finance, marketing, performance improvement/quality and staffing) is necessary.
Certified in Nursing Leadership or certification eligible with attainment within a year of hire.Registered Nurse by South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA Equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Certified in Nursing Leadership or certification eligible with attainment within a year of hire.
