The Decision Support Specialist 3 performs detailed financial analyses including long range financial analysis, forecasting, pro forma analysis, and business plan development for the Practice Management Board and School of Medicine. Provides decision support and recommendations to senior management, SOM Business Development Officer who reports to the Vice Chancellor, the PMB Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer, and SOM Finance and Administration Director. The Decision Support Specialist 3 is also responsible for managing and further developing the Clinical Practices and consolidated Health System's efficiency, financial and utilization performance and benchmarking processes and metrics.
Decision Support Specialist 3 Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, Business or Finance or equivalent experience.
Knowledge and experience with Decision Support Systems and analytics.
Experience with hospital operating and capital budgeting, benchmarking, productivity monitoring
Broad understanding of health care financial and reporting environment.
Skills to assimilate complex data sets to develop data findings, conclusions and recommendations.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and internal control concepts.
Project management and strategic planning skills.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Tableau, Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint.
Strong interpersonal, customer service, oral and written communication skills.
Experience working independently with little guidance and have demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple assignments and overlapping deadlines.
MHA/MBA/Masters of Finance degree
Academic medical center/health system experience.
Experience using the Allscripts EPSi budgeting and cost accounting system or other hospital cost accounting system strongly desired
Experience with UHC/ActionOI or NACHRI benchmarking systems/process
SQL server knowledge/experience preferred and willingness to learn to data analytic applications.
