The Director, Research Business Unit (RBU) is responsible for the oversight and management of the clinical aspects of all research projects which includes the planning, development and implementation of said studies within SHC. The Director, RBU is one of the clinical experts in Research Department to help evaluate the merit and applicability of clinical research projects. The Director, RBU directs the daily oversight of research which includes patient care, technical services, fiscal management and research protocols, which reports directly to the GM/VP of Research.
The Director, RBU also ensure the adherence to regulatory requirements for any research project under the FDA regulations relation to GCP. The Director, RBU will also review the current status of ESRD care in specific areas relative to research: internal data collections, the available literature to assist in summarizing the data and the development of clinical research projects with defined specific clinical endpoints.
The Director, RBU, under the direction of the GM/VP of Research, will coordinate with MCA and Operations to facilitate the transition of successful in house research projects once they are functioning effectively and have been evaluated and approved to become SHC standard of care. For the transition of said research projects into the SHC enterprise, the Director, SBU will oversee the development of educational materials and incorporate all requirements to make the transition successful. After implementation, the Director, SBU will act as a clinical SME during the period of transition until there has been a full hand off to MCA and Enterprise Development.

Accountable for the coordination, implementation and continuous assessment of the following standards: leadership, medical services, nursing services, performance improvement, patient assessment, patient care, patient rights, education, infection control, personnel management, information systems related to the research protocols and programs
Ensures that the research policies and procedures are in compliance with all State and Federal regulations, especially the ESRD Conditions of Participation (Code of Federal Regulations 405, Federal Register of June 3, 1976) and the DHS Interpretive Guidelines
Manages execution of research projects and programs including: Defining staff needs for research protocols done in the Centers, assigning research projects to units and research staff, ensuring that the unit is in compliance with requirements to submit data and other information to appropriate agencies, communicating regularly with the leadership at the participating Centers and keeps them informed of significant changes and variances from established research study, obtaining data as requested by corporation, serving as Study Monitor for internal studies, perform study initiation visits with monitors, performs duties of Study Coordinator when needed
Writes protocols and develops case report form's for internal research studies
Updates Research Policy and Procedure Manuals on a regular basis (at least annually)
Participates in research budget development and implementation
Responsible for driving the Satellite Healthcare culture through values and customer service standards
Accountable for outstanding customer service to all external and internal customers
Develops and maintains effective relationships through effective and timely communication
Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner
Under guidance of the GM/VP of Research, responsible for management of Research Field Team staff, including Project Manager, Study Coordinators and Research Assistants
Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Master's of Science in Nursing preferred
Experience: Five (5) years of clinical research experience in ESRD
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of dialysis, dialysis providers and nephrology research
Ability to negotiate with contractors, present to employees, as well as senior leadership
Able to read, write, speak, understand and satisfactorily communicate with others in English in person, over the phone and via email
