The Director of Procurement will be responsible for all Procurement operations for Dayton Children's; will direct Procurement staff to manage Procurement of supplies to all hospitals, clinics, physician practices and all 3rd party supply chain relationships to ensure quality service delivery that drives hospital value while building the infrastructure to reduce supply expense for the entire organization.
The director will oversee the efficient procurement of goods, equipment and services utilizing optimum quantity and pricing from appropriate sources. The director will focus on refining standardization techniques, contract management, service contracting and compliance working in collaboration with Dayton Children's senior leadership and medical staff leadership. Monitors contract Procurement levels for compliance with optimal discount levels.
Skill in utilizing negotiation techniques to guarantee best pricing on all items not on Premier product listings. Strongly encourages GPO Contract Participation with all Customer Service Representatives. Optimize our GPO relationship through regular communications with representatives and regular attendance at their periodic meetings and call-in’s in an effort to stay abreast of all new or ongoing contracting agreements. Manages Dayton Children's Supply Chain Operations. Demonstrates a leadership presence. Manage and coordinate work of others. Possess good implementation skills: good organization and system improvement skills.
Market the services of Supply Chain throughout Dayton Children's cross functional departments. Nurtures positive relationships with internal and external customers. Collaborates with other leaders and executives of the various entities of Dayton Children's to determine product and service needs. Develops plans to make sure those needs are met. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with vendors and other suppliers of goods, services and equipment to VH. Assures effective communications are maintained with areas of responsibility and coordination among all departments of Dayton Children's.
Works with the value analysis coordinator to enhance the value analysis process, structure, results, reporting or accountability including and within the steering committee structure. Attend each value analysis team meeting and support teams overall savings goals through individual product line cost benefit analysis, conversion costing, utilization reviews and other efforts aimed to achieve those financial targets for products designed to enhance the patient experience while saving money.
Communicate with physicians, nurses and other caregivers the merit of product standardization as it impacts patient care and cost. Partner with medical staff leadership for effective interaction with physicians, other caregivers and administrators regarding refinement to the system wide procurement program in order to optimize efficiency and cost. Keeps abreast of current trends and practices in the field of materials management/Procurement and new technologies. Responsible for all capital equipment Procurement for Dayton Children's including project capital. Does necessary benchmark analysis on all Capital requisitions to ensure the best cost possible. Utilize GPO agreements whenever possible. Excellent crisis management skills; exceptional interpersonal skills in working with peers and subordinates and in resolving the demands of many constituencies. Continually work to exceed customer expectations.
Education Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare management, or related field required*
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, , Applied Science, or a Related Field
10-15 years of experience in Procurement, outsourcing or general business / financial management required, preferably in Clinical Operations.
8-10 years of relevant experience in a leadership capacity within a Supply Chain environment
Prior Hospital/medical device preferred
Premier ERP preferred
Must have the ability to understand the impact decisions may have on all facets of the supply chain.
Demonstrated leadership abilities and superior communication, interpersonal, team-building and facilitation skills.
Detail oriented and able to handle multiple priorities in a faced-paced environment.
Must be able to deal effectively with all levels of management.
Must be analytical and systems-oriented.
Must be driven to improve processes and take initiative to highlight opportunities.
Exceptionally strong Microsoft Office and Microsoft Access skills
