POSITION SUMMARY: Data Integrity is responsible for the maintenance and integrity of the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI). The Data Integrity Specialist performs a variety of health records and clinical data related duties for muti-site operations at Christus St. Vincent, such as identifying, investigating and resolving linkages, overlays, duplicates and data integrity issues related to patient identification both electronically and within the paper record. The position will contribute to the overall management of patient identification within the evolving Electronic Health Record by coordinating the data remediation activities in accordance with established standards, guidelines, policies and procedures.
Ensures 98% - 100% accuracy and quality of duplicate medical record merges. Participates in inter- and intra- departmental duplicate medical record merges operations and assists in the maintenance of the internal HIS document process flows.
Updates patient demographic data and other information in multiple software applications utilized in the Health Information Services department related to maintaining the Enterprise Master Patient Index and electronic medical record.
EDUCATION: High school diploma required.2 or 4-year degree in business/finance. Health Information Management or related field preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: RHIT and Notary Public Certificates preferred.
SKILLS: Ability to work on several projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment. Computer database/network search capability, process management for electronic document distribution, workflow monitoring, keyboarding and word processing skills preferred; Medical terminology, Joint Commission standards and Electronic Medical Record Systems (EMRs) familiarity. Ability to learn and use new software to include document imaging and word processing applications. Understand and interpret health records, and registration data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a patient. Prioritize and meet deadlines and problem-solve. Demonstrates strong organizational skills with the ability to manage several priorities at one time and to work in a team setting.
EXPERIENCE: Two years healthcare experience in Medical Records. Experience with computer applications in healthcare required or successful completion of required course work in Health Information management and Business Administration.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: General office environment. Episodic sedentary work with intense mental concentration up to seven hours per day. Moderate physical effort (able to lift/carry up to 25 lbs.). Keyboarding up to seven hours per day using sound ergonomic principles.Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less. Ability to hear via headsets. Occasional lifting of supplies/equipment. Occasional reaching, stretching, bending, kneeling. Data entry keyboarding up to five hours per day.
