Saint Simons By-The-Sea Hospital is a 101 bed psychiatric and addictive disease hospital for adults and adolescents. We strive to provide quality mental health treatment and addiction treatment services in the area. Located on Saint Simons Island, Ga., Saint Simons By-The-Sea's serene island setting ensures privacy and anonymity, enabling the patient to concentrate on recovery. Our hospital is conveniently located within driving distance of Jacksonville, FL, Savannah, GA, and other surrounding cities in the South Georgia and Northern Florida region. Saint Simons By-The-Sea's staff has extensive experience in the fields of addiction treatment, recovery, relapse prevention and mental health treatment.
Saint Simons By-The-Sea Hospital is seeking an experienced Infection Control/Staff Development/ Employee Health RN, whoÂ under the supervision of the Director of Nursing,Â is responsible for planning, supervising, and monitoring the facility's efforts to prevent and reduce the risk of infection and to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards for all established regulatory bodies as it relates to applicable infection disease control standards. Assists with planning, implementing, and evaluating an organized program for staff education, directed toward the achievement of professional excellence.Â
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks:Â
Plans, develops, and directs staff education related to employee health and infection control policies and standards.
Conducts annual Safety and IC in-service programs for all employees.
Maintains IC policies and procedures congruent with state and regulatory agencies and assures compliance with same.
Assesses compliance with IC policies/practices and participates in construction projects to assure infection control measures are appropriate and recommends needed remedies to responsible manager.
Develops annual Performance Improvement Plan based on PI activities and identified opportunities for improvements and participates in PI activities of the facility.
Serves as a resource for staff, patients and community referrals in providing materials for education, including, but not limited to, medications, medical diagnosis, and general health issues.
Completes CPR instructor training through American Heart Association to teach CPR to the clinical/direct care employees.
Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates orientation, transfer training, cross-training, continuing education programming, and staff growth and development activities for all employees in coordination with department managers as consistent with identified needs and the requirements for all external regulatory agencies.
Performs continuous analysis of staff growth and development performance improvement goals and objectives, re-establishing requirements which will facilitate continuous improvement in terms of outcome, effectiveness, and impact on the individual, group, facility and quality of patient care.
Coordinates the competency of the individual nursing employee as well as the department and coordinates or provides individualized training for those who have special needs.
Administers and oversees the UHS Behavioral Health Learning System and ensures all jobs are appropriately posted as scheduled.
Maintains all employee health files for the hospitalâ€™s staff.
