The Quality Review Nurse performs and supports quality nursing care by demonstrating an advanced level of nursing knowledge and proficiency to ensure accuracy of 485 certification, OASIS completion and diagnosis coding. Work from home must live in Denver area for meetings. (with or without reasonable accomodation)
Manage quality of documentation through education and electronic review of the OASIS and 485.
Demonstrate expertise, serves as a resource, and provide training in OASIS, diagnosis coding and Plan of Care (485) documentation.
Communicate regularly and effectively with assessing Clinicians and Clinical Managers.
Evaluate competency of OASIS and 485 documentation and works with Clinical Managers in planning strategies to improve deficiencies identified.
Assess appropriateness of patients to home care requirements and adherence to payor rules and regulations.
Handle difficult situations calmly and efficiently.
Review documentation to assure appropriateness, timeliness and compliance with pay source regulations.
Review OASIS and Plan of Care for accuracy and completeness and incorporates edits from SHP alerts to identify OASIS inconsistencies or incorrect diagnosis coding.
Discuss suggested edits with the assessing Clinician prior to making edits or corrections to the OASIS. Examines, analyzes and interprets reports as appropriate.
Monitor SHP reports specific to Outcomes and Process Measures to identify needs in training and implementation of best practice
Graduation from an approved educational program for nursing. BSN degree preferred. Must have an active Colorado RN license or a license from the state of primary residence, if participating in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). OASIS C and ICD-10 certification is preferred, but may be substituted for actual hands on experience.
At least 1 year of recent home care experience directly related to OASIS-C coding and review. Knowledge of CMS regulations as it relates to home health care. Solid clinical home care experience.
In-depth understanding of Medicare/OASIS/485/diagnosis coding regulations and requirements in review of OASIS and 485 certifications
Intermediate level of Computer skills with ability to utilize electronic health record software. Able to serve as a resource in orienting and working with inexperienced clinicians for completion of OASIS documentation. Able to motivate and train employees related to Medicare/OASIS/485 review to ensure quality documentation. Excellent communication skills to establish and maintain working relationships with Clinicians and Clinical Managers. Able to provide teaching and support to clinical personnel via telephone1:1, written or face to face communication. Able to work independently utilizing time management skills to meet productivity goals.
