Situated on a 14-acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient). River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented PSYCHIATRIC NURSE MANAGER - NIGHTS to assist in the care of patients; participate in patient and family teaching and work cooperatively with other patient care personnel while maintaining a high level of quality service to patients of all ages found within the scope of services. JOB DESCRIPTION INCLUDES; BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO: - Maintains hospital and program policies and procedures by direct supervision of nursing staff.
- Actively participates in the development of patient treatments plans when called upon by nursing staff for support
- Acts as a patient advocate in decision making processes
- Provides RN coverage for unit needs when necessary for staffing level safety
- Maintains appropriate staffing to meet the needs of the patients/ programs within set guidelines
- Promotes an environment in which the treatment team can work cooperatively toward program objectives and quality patient care.
- Ensures that all assigned staff are oriented according to the needs of the hospital program and standards of care
- Assures high quality of patient care through the development and coordination of QA monitoring activities on the program level.
- Works cooperatively with all internal departments to ensure standards are met and escalates issues appropriately to the DON and Risk Manager when necessary
- Conducts the initial and on-going evaluation of program nursing staff, probation and annual review, on a timely basis.
- Assists the admissions department when necessary by assessing patient care needs, health status, and patient's potential responses to interventions
- Evaluates educational needs of staff and coordinates staff development and in-service programs with the Staff Development team
- Orient, redirect, and evaluate job performances of staff as assigned;
- Acts as liaison between nursing administration and nursing staff.
- Rotates as nursing administrator on call.
- Participates actively in nursing administrative meetings and committees.
- Represents program and hospital when called upon by serving as a speaker or resource to communication.
- Works with the DON, Clinical Services Director, and other key stakeholders to assure program planning, goals, and objectives are efficiently and effectively implemented.
- Informs DON of pertinent clinical and administrative observations.
- Willingly adapts to changes and demonstrates a positive attitude and flexibility in scheduling and in the performance of duties assigned to this position.
- Demonstrates professional ethics in the performance of duties, and serves as a role model by supporting and implementing the basic philosophy and standards of the nursing profession.
