We are recruiting for a Director, Ancillary Services to join our Hospital Division.
The Director of Ancillary Services is a nurse leadership position responsible for the support of diagnostic and therapeutic ancillary services performed in multiple hospitals. The scope of ancillary services includes but is not limited to: radiology services, surgical services, outpatient services, dialysis services, laboratory, and therapy services. The Director of Ancillary Services is to provide strategic and tactical leadership to District Vice Presidents, Chief Executive Officers and Chief Clinical Officers on best practices and metrics for providing both outsourced and in-house ancillary services. The position may be filled at a higher level depending on qualifications.
Working with District Vice Presidents and other senior leaders develop and execute operating plans and metrics for hospital ancillary programs, including financial and revenue growth, operations, labor management, supply management, equipment management, contract management, policies, practices and clinical outcomes.
Provides education and training and functions as a resource to Support Center, division, district, and facility staff for ancillary departments that include clinical and operational issues, OSHA, performance improvement, regulatory compliance, risk management, and clinically related human resource issues.
Reviews and analyzes market and research data regarding clinical and operational processes to make recommendations for appropriate cost effective improvements for ancillary services.
Develop and implement change management plans for ancillary services in conjunction with external consultants and service line leaders.
Working with respective hospital CEOs and CCOs, develop, implement, and guide respective hospitals on day-to-day management of ancillary services.
Develops budgets, policies, and procedures to support the functional infrastructure of ancillary services.
Develops and maintains effective relationships with physicians consistent with Kindred Code of Conduct and compliance standards.
Develops positive and effective work relationships with all levels of management and departments within Kindred.
Participates in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities to measure and assess the quality of services provided.
Coordinates and integrates ancillary services practices with nursing services and other clinical services at the division and field level.
Provide subject matter expertise and leadership in a matrixed environment in order to support local ancillary services.
Provide coaching and direction to CCOs on the management of hospital clinicians directly supporting ancillary services.
Participate in the development of ancillary managers, leaders, and teams.
Manages and interprets periodic audits to ensure consistency and compliance with ancillary services core standards, regulation and accreditation standards.
Provides technical expertise and consultation regarding ancillary services contracts, protocols, methodologies and documentation.
Periodically evaluates supplies and equipment for scientific merit, cost effectiveness and patient safety, making recommendation to Operations and Purchasing.
Performs and directs ancillary services analysis through on-site visits and report reviews.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Maintain and prepare QAPI data and presentations. Participates and presents at meetings with internal and external representatives, often leading a collaborative effort among members of a project team. Assures provision of facility specific QAPI information as appropriate.
Ensures compliance with hospital regulations and participates in surveys conducted by TJC, CMS, OSHA and other agencies.
Works independently with minimum supervision.
Collaborate with hospital representatives to maintain a state of survey readiness for agency surveys. Participates in development, execution and follow up on plans of corrections that result from survey findings.
Competent verbal and written communciation skills.
High level of department financial managmetn accumen.
Takes initiative and action to respond, resolve and follow up regarding anciallary department service issues in a timely manner.
Comfort and effectiveness with formal and informal presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to establish and maintain excellent relationship skills with team and field.
Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, appropriate prioritization and time management skills. Independent decision-making skills.
Ability to travel to remote locations up to 100 percent of the time.
Available for night and weekend calls and troubleshooting.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing and MBA required.
Licenses and Certifications:
Registered Nurse with a current license.
At least ten years of experience, including five years of acute inpatient setting work.
Five or more years of years of experience in senior management position, leading teams, and with experience in overseeing multiple disciplines preferred.
Multi-facility system experience required.
Dialysis experience a plus.
