Job Title: Actuarial Analyst - Associate Location: Danville, PA Department: Geisinger Health Plan Work Type: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY: The Actuarial Analyst is responsible to perform data analytics that will provide leadership with strategic business intelligence around financial and operational performance. The analyst compiles claims, enrollment, revenue, and other statistical data to use in assigned projects. With supervision and guidance from senior team members, the analyst conducts data analysis, performs financial modeling and designs reporting to support Geisinger Health Plan requirements and initiatives. Additionally, the actuarial analyst will participate in the communication of summarized results to stakeholders via written narratives, graphical representations, and presentations. This position may support initiatives for internal (GHP, GHS) or external/government (CMS, DHS, PID, xG, etc.) stakeholders and/or strategic business partners.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Exhibits strong analytical, problem solving, strategic and critical thinking, decision modeling, and organizational skills. Ability to work in a dynamic environment while demonstrating ability to produce timely, accurate, and appropriately detailed analytics Demonstrates general knowledge of actuarial science, mathematics, or statistics, including ability to perform financial analyses and create models. Demonstrates effective communication skills (interpersonal, presentation, written). Demonstrates proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access. Technical knowledge of statistical software (R, SAS, etc.) and data query tools such as SQL preferred.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, or related field required.
OR
Associate’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, or related field required and three years of related professional experience in a healthcare setting required.
Experience reporting from relational databases and financial modeling preferred. Previous experience in a progressive healthcare setting preferred.
