JOB SUMMARY: Promotes and maintains health of enrollees within the LIFE Geisinger Center and community through teaching, counseling, and appropriate preventive and rehabilitative nursing services.
Responsible for assessments of health needs and contributing to the plan of care, initial implementation of nursing care plans and providing nursing care, as well as periodic reevaluations of individual and family nursing needs. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, plan care for and provide service to the frail elderly participants according to assigned responsibilities and LIFE Geisinger standards.
Reports to the Nurse Specialist, LIFE Geisinger, Geisinger Community Health Services.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates excellent clinical, oral and written communication skills. Must be flexible, adaptable, and able to function in stressful situations.
Demonstrates good interpersonal skills and ability to foster teamwork; Ability to triage work effectively required.
Demonstrates the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and bring them to a timely and accurate completion.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Must maintain a current RN licensure within Pennsylvania. Bachelor Degree preferred.
A minimum of one-year experience required in working with an elderly population. Outpatient clinic office experience preferred.
A minimum of two-years experience in clinical nursing is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in an office environment. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania driver's license and car available for work. This position is considered light in nature as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor. This position is classified as exposure category III concerning occupational exposure to the hepatitis B virus (HBV) and the human immunodeficiency (AIDS).
