JOB TITLE:Electrophysiology Lab Registered Nurse LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center Hospital DEPARTMENT:Electrophysiology WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full time
JOB SUMMARY: The RN responsibilities include participating in the daily operations in the Electrophysiology Laboratory including assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care as well as performing circulating functions during procedures. The RN administers conscious sedation, scrubs for ablations, surgical implantation and extraction of devices, evaluates pacemakers and defibrillators during procedures, and coordinates support services for cases. The RN also composes and implements policy and procedures, performs auditing and handles reporting monthly QA.
The RN uses critical care skills and knowledge to ensure the safe delivery of patient care with a high level of decision-making autonomy.
Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction.
Works under the supervision of a physician in clinical matters and the Operations Manager, Invasive Cardiac Suite for non-clinical matters. Reports directly to Lead Electrophysiology tech for both clinical and non-clinical matters.

Demonstrates cardiac monitoring knowledge.
Demonstrates ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrates computer literacy.
Demonstrates good organizational skills and effective communication skills.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Pennsylvania required.
Minimum two years of Acute care nursing experience or one year of EP/CATH experience required.
International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) status required after 2 years of hire, within two testing cycles.
BLS required. ACLS and PALs required within 3 months of hire.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Must be able to wear lead x-ray protection apparel.
