The Senior Director Clinical Research and Graduate Medical Education (GME) will be charged with providing strategic direction, tactical steps, and goals/performance metrics for the medial enterprise within the domains of clinical research and Graduate Medical Education. This person will determine how to gain maximum value from these three domains interacting with our enterprises assets, scale, and scope within the hospital, outpatient, and potentially Conifer divisions of Tenet.
FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
The Senior Director Clinical Research and (GME) will also have the following functional responsibilities:
-GME: Develop the strategy and tactics to harvest the maximal value from our large and distributed GME programs.
Work with local and market hospital leaders to develop an integrated strategy for the GME programs and how the presence or absence of GME at facilities impact our growth and quality agenda.
Collaborate with GCMO(s) to ensure that site directors of GME are fulfilling with the regulatory bodiesï¿½ requirements for GME provision and that our GME strategy and tactics are compliant with regulatory bodiesï¿½ requirements.
Collaborate with Tenet Physician Resources (TPR) to enhance the desirability of employment with Tenet to our residents and fellows.
Determine and implement other ways that our GME scale and scope can add value to Tenet.
-Clinical Research: Determine how to organize clinical research to increase recruitment of high quality physicians, enroll patients in distinctive clinical trials, and attract clinical trials as scale to Tenet.
Lead the National Research Business Office (NRBO) to improve cycle time and accuracy of submitted research requests.
Collaborate with legal to improve efficiency and effectiveness of legal review and contract administrator function.
Work with top 20 clinical research physicians or groups to increase enrollment in clinical trials at their sites.
Determine other models to scale up clinical research in collaboration with our physician leaders.
CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE, ATTRIBUTES AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
At least seven years of related experience in medicine and five to seven years of demonstrated progressive management experience with increasing scope of responsibility. Other requisites include:
Experience in implementing broad-scale organization change and transformation.
Experience in politically complex environments.
Demonstrated success in listening to, influencing, and ultimately binding together physicians and nurses to make change.
Experience in multi-site healthcare organizations.
Knowledge of academic medical center and community-based health setting.
A history of identifying key priorities and problems, obtaining relevant information, identifying root causes and generating alternative solutions to reach sound management decisions.
Must have independent judgment and decision-making capability. Excellent human relations skills.
Visionary with the ability to think strategically and possessing the communication and leadership skills to follow through on development plans.
Demonstrated success in balancing cost and quality issues and partnering with the medical staff to address productivity and quality improvements.
The ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies and to deliver high quality written and verbal presentations.
One who encourages feedback and collaborative efforts in his/her staff in order to promote a higher standard of patient care, cost effective delivery of services, and a team-oriented culture.
An individual of highest personal and professional integrity, principle and knowledge, earning respect and support when making difficult decisions and choices. Able to establish immediate credibility with peers, senior leadership, medical staff, and the Board.
MD or DO with completion of residency preferred.
Relevant Masterï¿½s degree (e.g., Master of Clinical Science, MBA/MHA, or MIM) an added benefit.
A competitive compensation program will be tailored to the selected candidate. Base salary will be supplemented by a performance bonus and a comprehensive, well-rounded benefits program, which includes relocation assistance.
