The Chief Medical Officer provides leadership, oversight and direction for all Haven Hospice and Haven Medical Group, LLC (“HMG”) medical functions, including medical services provided for Haven Hospice by HMG, and manages relationships with attending physicians and referral sources. The Chief Medical Officer can be based in any office within Haven’s service area. The CMO Reports to the Haven President and is a member of the Haven Executive Leadership team providing direction to HMG providers and HMG practice manager. - Provides medical care as a hospice and palliative care physician.
- Ensures use of evidence-based or best-known clinical practices for HMG providers and clinical associates by staying current with the literature and active with professional organizations, promoting process-driven work, and teaching others.
- Facilitates high clinical reliability and excellent outcomes by promoting standard, process-driven work, and by leading continuous improvement.
- Leads the continued growth of the hospice and palliative care programs. Provides creative direction to the development of innovative programs and services across settings to advance Haven’s mission, vision and strategy.
- Fosters a culture of strong teamwork and collaboration within HMG and at all levels across Haven.
- Responsible for the leadership development and talent management of providers and establishes a leadership climate that contributes to a highly engaged workforce.
- Serves as a strong champion and ambassador of Haven by strengthening public awareness and support for Haven’s mission, vision, and programs through regularly providing educational presentations to health care providers and academic institutions, by engaging others at an individual and community level, and through involvement in professional organizations.
- Engages, in a legally compliant manner, with Haven’s referral sources, academic institutions, professional organizations, health plans, and community groups to forge strategic alliances.
- Demonstrates strong stewardship of staff and non-staff resources to achieve strategic priorities and annual goals within budget targets.
- Keeps abreast of hospice, palliative care, advanced illness and health care trends; and business, economic and policy issues affecting the delivery of healthcare.
