The Registered Nurse provides care to veterans at the Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Health Care System (OKCVAHCS). OKCVAHCS is a Level 1b major interdisciplinary teaching facility with service-lines serving medical, surgical, and neurological inpatients and outpatients, with a Level III Emergency Department, and multiple community-based outpatient clinics (CBOC). The Registered Nurse for the Emergency Department performs a variety of duties to include, but not limited to: Demonstrating leadership in delivering and improving patient care on the unit and at the service level Providing organized and efficient patient care, looking beyond their individual assignment to address concerns and issues occurring on the unit and within the service Managing multiple competing priorities successfully Demonstrating of accurate and timely documentation of patient care according to the Standards for the Emergency Department Demonstrating understanding of and compliance with patient safety guidelines, accrediting body guidelines, VHA Directives and Facility Center Memorandums that pertain to the Emergency Department and direct patient care Utilizing clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision making and evaluating outcomes Serving as a preceptor for nursing students, providing feedback to the student, faculty, and nurse manager regarding students' progress Demonstrating effective communication skills and professional behaviors that promote cooperation and teamwork with internal and external customers, team members, and supervisors Work Schedule: Multiple Shifts Telework schedules: are not authorized for this position Virtual work schedules: are not authorized for this position Functional Statement Title/#: ER VN-0610-00/ I-III Status: These positions are part of the bargaining unit Relocation / Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized for these positions Relocation Expenses: PCS not authorized for these positions Designated Drug-Testing Position: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
