Work Hours/Shift: Full Time - Days You Will Be Responsible For: Well Child Heath Care Checks Take a complete detailed medical and developmental history at the intervals recommended in the Protocols during the first ten years. Perform the physical examination, recognize the deviations from normal, record and present the data to the primary physician.
Perform preschool and physical education examinations. Review the developmental history and immunization record of the patient and provide immunizations as needed as recommended in the Protocols.
Perform Title XIX pre-screening physicals on eligible children once a year. Recognize departures from good health in the above examinations, under the supervision of the physician. Counsel regarding diet, growth and development, social habits and routine health care, according to physician orders. See initially and care for ill children, taking appropriate history and examinations. Evaluate and consult with the physician when appropriate, and follow physician’s orders in regard to instruction for the patient and treatments as outlined in Item VI below. The physician will perform rechecks and progress examinations.
Performs a complete physical exam, including pelvic and rectal where appropriate, obtains complete medical and social history, and records findings. Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interprets and integrates data to determine diagnosis and treatment plan.
Administers medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines. Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments.
Educates patients regarding health and illness prevention, recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
Midlevel providers may take emergency calls, triage and evaluate emergent patients, consulting a physician as necessary. A Midlevel provider may draw venous blood, take Papanicolaou (“Pap”) smears, collect culture specimens, perform tonometry, EKG interpretation, and other procedures commensurate with experience and training.
Midlevel providers may routinely perform such therapeutic procedures as: diagnosis, treatment, medication prescription, debridement, suture and subsequent care of wounds; remove of impacted cerumen; subcutaneous local anesthesia; nasal packing for epistaxis; sling/splint sprains; incise and drain localized abcesses and cauterize warts; and other procedures as delegated by the supervising physician. Midlevel Providers may make nursing home visits and house calls when appropriate. They will follow the orders of the physician regarding any instructions to the patient and treatments as outlined in Items VI and VII above. Performs other duties as assigned. Attends ongoing organizational and leadership training to improve leadership and supervisory skills QualificationsWhat You Will Need: Successful completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program Successful completion and maintenance of all applicable federal and state board certifications/registrations
Job Summary: Above all is a Patient Advocate with Excellent Customer Service Skills. Promotes Positive Team Culture and Team Work. Ensures that Meaningful Use and other Practice Quality Measures are achieved. Acts like an Owner. Midlevel Providers (both Family Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants) will examine patients who present to FMC offices. Every patient will have the option of seeing a midlevel provider or returning to the office at a time when the physician will be in attendance. A midlevel provider is available to provide patient care at least 90% of the time during Copperas Cove hours of operation and 80% of the time at the Lampasas RHC. The Clinical Protocols (“Protocols”) for all FMC midlevel providers shall be the latest edition of “The 5-Minute Clinical Consult 2018 Premium Edition”, The 5-Minute Pediatric Consult and the latest edition of the Physician’s Desk Reference unless otherwise directed by the supervising physician.
