| General Purpose of Job: The Quality Informaticist supports the development and implementation of quality improvement activities, and assists in improving quality processes through coordinating and engaging in performance excellence activities. This position will be dedicated to and assist with the management of core business processes and quality initiatives. The key focus areas will be strategic Quality data capture, effective data visualization, reporting, validation, and audit processes. The Quality Informaticist will perform in tandem with the External Quality Metrics Analyst and Quality SME’s responsible for audit and applied data operations. This position is responsible for forecasting, monitoring, analyzing, compiling, drafting recommendations and developing proactive strategies with dissemination to appropriate entities for vetting and action. Collaborates with other DHP departments to assess, plan, facilitate, implement, monitor and evaluate operational activities of various departments with impact to performance metrics. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Quality Informaticist applies expertise in data analysis to interpret implications of interventions and measurement analytics. The incumbent will engage with clinical teams composed of senior leadership, clinical leadership, quality department and other staff to gain a better understanding of current clinical processes and work towards improving member and provider services/outcomes and quality at the health plan. This should be accomplished through analysis/representation of data in appropriate formats, collaboration with colleagues, active participation and initiative to effectively improve outcomes. - Identifies data sources, gathers, compiles and evaluates data from various sources, audits, projects/initiatives for reporting to internal leadership and external agencies, (e.g. QM Committee, HHSC Performance Improvement Projects (PIP), HHSC initiatives including but not limited to P4Q, QAPI, Quality Audits, etc.
- Assists in capture and analysis of data, identification of trends/concerns and preparation of recommendations for improvements as indicated in analyzed data.
- Performs internal quality audits and/or trend assessments to identify opportunities for improvement
- Assist in the evaluation of the effectiveness of quality projects/initiatives within DHP in conjunction with the QM Program and work plan.
- Performs audits in conjunction with QM activities, makes recommendations for and disseminates data applications as needed.
- Provides training related to quality processes and initiatives for DHP staff and providers as indicated.
- Ensures the integrity of project data, including data extraction, processing, storage, manipulation, analysis and distribution.
- Works with management to develop statistical analysis that address proposed projects and analyzes data using basic statistical methods, interprets results and provides written summaries of analyses on short notice and with timely turnarounds.
- Use the scientific discovery process by applying the latest statistical techniques to quantify ROI.
- Maintain, generate and participate in the development of quality metrics dashboards.
- Serves as an expert on clinical data abstraction/interpretation
- Performs other duties as requested.
