The VISN 22 VA Desert Pacific Healthcare Network is seeking two full time and one part time Nurse Practitioners to assist in the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a temporary position NTE two (2) years. Failing to submit any documentation that is required and listed under the "Required Documents" tab may result in loss of consideration. The NP will be assigned to the COVID Vaccination Team. The primary responsibilities will be to administer COVID vaccinations to patients and staff of the facility along with possible traveling to Community Based Outpatient Clinics during regular business hours and possibly weekend and/or evening clinics as needed. Position will also provide assistance with COVID test clinic as needed. When untoward reactions occur, the NP will quickly assess, intervene, and prescribe as appropriate. The NP will lead team members, such as RNs, LPNs, ICTs, and Health Aids in the effective, efficient delivery of vaccinations, including pre- and post-vaccination needs. When the need for the COVID Vaccination Team decreases, the NP may be reassigned to cover other needs in outpatient or inpatient settings, as appropriate. The NP examines patients and establishes a medical diagnosis by patient history, physical examination and relevant data such as laboratory and radiographic studies. The NP is responsible for ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies to identify, develop and implement a plan of care for patient medical need. S/He consults and acquires, and coordinates services based on the patient need. S/he demonstrates sound decision making skills in determining plan of care and recognizes when patients are beyond their education, credentialing and responsibilities and arrange for transfer to appropriate provider or service. The NP prescribes and dispenses medication in accordance with Arizona Board of Nursing Practice Act, SAVAHCS policies the Drug Enforcement (DEA) Act. DEA registration is required. The NP also adheres to VHA and SAVAHCS documentation and compliance standards. NP will cross into medical and or primary care clinics to assist on an as needed bases to facilitate veteran care across the continuum. Clinical core privileges include: the management, treatment, and ordering, performing, and interpreting labs, radiography, and other diagnostic tests for acute and chronic medical conditions of adult Veteran population Work Schedule: Full-time Monday - Friday, part-time.
