The position of the RN Program Coordinator (RNPC) is located in the Acute Psychiatry Inpatient Unit and serves the inpatient mental health program by facilitating the coordination of inpatient programming as well as ensuring a high-quality recovery experience for hospitalized Veterans. · RNPC's primary concerns are with service quality, patient care, program development, recovery implementation and training, transitions of care and enhancing internal and external relationships. · Provides oversight to the daily programming schedule on the inpatient unit. · Assist in the determination of programming needs related to recovery-oriented services and the specific needs of the Veterans hospitalized during a given period. · Assure that the integrity of a consistent schedule is maintained, being the point of contact for any changes in the schedule or program. I · RNPC, along with the inpatient team, will periodically reevaluate the program schedule based upon Veteran feedback, staff evaluations and current trends in psycho-education. · Directly involved in group facilitation. · Well-versed in the principles of recovery and be able to demonstrate that they practice these principles in the implementation of Veteran groups on the inpatient unit. · Design and lead groups that include psycho-education, activities, and community elements. · Responsible for implementing groups on the unit that are in concert with Veteran needs and preferences. · Coordinate both in-person and virtual group activities using a variety of modalities, including but not limited to MS Teams and Veteran Virtual Connect. · Provides consultation, training, guidance and expertise to inpatient staff regarding recovery-oriented, patient-centered treatment of Veterans as well as group facilitation. · May be responsible for the supervision of trainees working in the inpatient milieu. · May also provide occasional direct patient care when needed or assigned by the unit nurse manager.
