This position is aligned within the Education Department and the incumbent falls under the direct supervision of the Deputy Director of Education. The incumbent works to support full program management for planning, direction, reporting, and evaluation of training programs. The Simulation Coordinator's work is performed in a variety of settings including, but not limited to, office, classroom, and conference settings. The Simulation Coordinator / Nurse Educator will be responsible for the coordination and management of clinical simulation activities within the medical center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) using the full range of simulation modalities; curriculum acquisition and development; creation of policies and procedures related to the use of clinical simulation; development of virtual patient, standardized patient, and mannequin-based scenarios; and conducting research in program effectiveness and emerging simulation technologies. The incumbent collaborates with multiple disciplines in the assessment, planning, organization, implementation, and evaluation of staff development, learning and quality improvement, and application of clinical related software to clinical practice. The incumbent will develop, coordinate, and implement clinical training scenarios using simulation techniques including CPR-type mannequins, high fidelity computer-enhanced mannequins, task trainers, virtual patients, standardized patients, and 3-D simulation. The Simulation Coordinator analyzes resources available and identifies risk areas which include budgetary, staffing, supplies, equipment, and/or availability of data/information, including utilization of information technology. Maintains the annual budget, develops justifications, provides recommendations for budget and purchase of equipment, supplies and materials related to simulation. Programs, tests, and troubleshoots simulation software scenarios, requiring knowledge and experience with complex computer software and audio-visual equipment. The incumbent develops instructional materials using adult learning principles and innovative learning methods, applying education that integrates interactive, interprofessional learning/simulation classes, curriculum and evaluative measures.
