These Licensed Practical Nurse position is being offered in the Branson, Missouri Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks. LPNs provide specialized and expert administrative patient support while working collaboratively in an interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery model. Duties include, but are not limited to: Implements nursing interventions to assist patients activities of daily living. Consistently and correctly prioritizes patient care activities Identifies significant changes in the patient's condition and reports to the chemotherapy clinic charge nurse Making appointment reminder phone calls Initiates correct skin risk management Performance of complex therapeutic procedures requires regular observation and guidance from the charge nurse including: Vital signs, Dressing change, simple and complex, Oxygen administration, Intake and output, Urinary catheterization and bladder instillations, Pulmonary hygiene and drainage, Nutritional support via tube feeding, gastrostomy feeding, Tracheal suctioning, Colostomy care, Blood glucose monitoring, Blood collection via venipuncture, MRSA nasal swabbing, and Seasonal vaccine administration. Recognizes acute, subtle changes indicating patient distress and initiates correct emergency interventions Recognizes and provides therapeutic intervention to alleviate patient self-destructive behaviors or changes in mental status Maintains equipment and therapeutic environment to prevent injury to self or others Observes and follows all established practices and complies with the Medical Center and VA policies Correctly administers medications (including intravenous fluids) according to VAMC policy and Therapeutic Methods Communicates effectively with patient/family/significant others, Multidisciplinary team members, and immediate staff and co- workers.
