This position is located in the Sterile Processing Service at the West Haven VA Medical Center. the Electronic Instrument Coordinator Medical Supply Technician (MST), Sterile Processing Service (SPS) that will have knowledge of the processes for Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) as required by this position . GS-7 Duties Include but are not limited too: Initiates tracking reports and data analysis for SPS. Coordinates with SPS Management, Logistics, Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) Coordinator, and SPS Quality Assurance for all new purchased and leased instrumentation. Receives, schedules, refers, and contacts members of the staff, agency, and persons outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public. Additionally, this position will do correspondence and reports to RME, SPS, VISN, Services, and other Government Agencies and public corporations that deal with SPS. Knowledge of sterile processing procedures, surgical instrumentation, surgical procedures, sterility, and aseptic techniques is needed to perform the duties. Typing, computer skills and facility office software knowledge is needed to perform the duties. The position may be assigned to work as needed on other than normal working tours of duty or shifts, either in the evenings or on weekends. Such scheduling for other than normal working tours of duty will be assigned as needed by the Chief, Sterile Processing Services (SPS). Complete training coursework and VA SPS certification as required for a Sterile Processing Technician position in the VA. Instrument marking techniques for the proper identification and tracking of surgical instrumentation after sterilization. The incumbent maintains records produced by automated equipment tracking systems. The incumbent must be highly proficient in computer programs as they are responsible for providing expertise, guidance, and training when necessary, for and to the staff and management of the Sterile Processing Service on the automated equipment tracking system and its interconnection with the Decontamination and Preparation areas. Incumbent is competent in and uses automated equipment tracking systems to plan for and determine current and future supply and instrument requirements to meet the needs of the facility. Incumbent utilizes and is proficient in electronic equipment tracking systems and data communication systems and is required to remain up to date as technology changes and improvements to systems are made. Reviews data and validates information, develops templates for reporting purposes, analyzes data for performance improvement. Incumbent monitors the quality of input and output of automated inventory management systems, recommends system and program changes to improve timeliness, accuracy, and utility of inventory information for users. .Work Schedule: Applicants will be selected for one of the following Shifts 1st Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm 2nd Shift: Monday - Friday 3:00pm to 11:30pm Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
