A Central Sterile Processing Technician, No n-Certified is responsiblefor cleaning, decontamination, assembly, and h igh-level disinfection ofall reusable medical instrumentation. Maintains highstandardsconsistency and continuous product flow between the OR and SterileProcessing. Responsible formaintaining adequate supply levels i nsterile storage area, rotating stock as appropriate pulling case cartsf orthe daily surgical schedule.
Cleans, decontaminates, assembles, and disinfects scope trays andequipment foll owing established traylists and manufacture'srecommendations.Maintains c ommunication with customers and departments regardingrequests and delive ryof sterile supplies.Promotes best practice by demonstrating a commitme ntto quality patientcare.Performs assigned duties to maintain unit in a state of survey readinessand maintain quality initiatives. For example q uality control measures,emergency equipment checks, and department clean liness.Uses the computerized instrument tracking system in the performan ce ofassigned duties, obtaining instrument count sheets, obtaining speci alhandling instructions for instrumentation documenting sterilizationloa ds, and other assigned tasks.Adheres to unit programs to support patient care such as maintaining aquiet environment and customer service.Efficie nt and punctual distribution of case carts, equipment, and statsuppliest othe OR and Maintain sterility and or cleanliness accordingto hospitalpr otocol.Maintain accurate log for equipment out for repair.Tests operatio nal efficiency of Instrumentation prior to reprocessingand reports probl ems to appropriate leadership.Maintains a clean and orderly central proc essing area (e.g. shelves,counters, equipment)Performs other relatedduti es incidental to the work described herein.
Knowledge, Skill s and Abilities
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Employees hired before 2/18/19 are not required to have high school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience working in a healthcare environment preferred. Working knowledge of computer required. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and care/cleaning strongly preferred; knowledge of sterile techniques preferred.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Certification in Sterile Processing and/or Technology required within 2 years of hire date -CSPDT (CBSPD) or CRCST (IAHCSMM). Employees hired before 2/18/2019 are not required to obtain certification.
