The role you’ll contribute:
The Child Life Specialist provides therapeutic evaluation, education and recreational services to the pediatric patients who are in the hospital while helping to minimize stress and anxiety for the child or adolescent. Advocates for the child/adolescent and family for a positive health care experience. Adheres to Florida Hospital Tampa Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

- Communicates with courtesy when interacting with internal or external customers – in person or on the telephone.
- Demonstrate collaboration and teamwork in managing patient flow-i.e. promotes timely patient placement by following hospital policy for patient admission, discharge and transfer.
- Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services.
- Directs play activities in the playroom and works with bed rest children as indicated.
- Assesses patients’ psychological reaction related to illness, separation, hospitalization, cultural influences and medical procedures.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
- Academic Preparation of Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in the behavioral sciences.
- Certificate of Child Life Specialist
- Minimum of one year related experience in a hospital Child Life Service.
- Valid AHA BLS certificate
