The role you’ll contribute:
The Team Leader adheres to and follows the goals, philosophy, standards and guidelines of AdventHealth Central Texas. The Team Leader is a specialized health care professional who reports to the Nursing Manager and provides leadership to the unit assigned by supervising the coordination of the care and services for the patients on the unit for their assigned shift. The Team Leader will lead their staff on the delivery of safe patient care, quality strategies, throughput initiatives, patient satisfaction and employee satisfaction. In collaboration with the ED Leadership Team, the Team Leader will conduct performance evaluations of their assigned staff, participate in peer interviews of potential new hires for their team, and will make suggestions to their Nurse Manager of any staff recognitions and/or disciplinary actions. This position demonstrates leadership through conflict resolution and service recovery with patients, families, physicians, and staff and proactively removes barriers to effectively implement AdventHealth Central Texas strategic plan to achieve our vision. The Team Leader maintains clinical competency and is required to provide direct patient care.

Patient Experience:
Ensures that every patient has a documented and purposeful nurse leader round every day. Rounds by nurse assignment and provides immediate feedback to nurse after rounding.
Validates and holds staff accountable for purposeful hourly rounding.
Unit performance is measured through CAHPS scores.
Unit Productivity Performance:
Acts as the Team Leader/nurse leader of the unit for each regular shift assigned.
Coordinates unit staffing for shift as described by staffing grid. Prevents overstaffing and over-shift overtime. Justifies on Team Leader staffing sheet any variance to staffing per grid for assigned shift.
Coordinates appropriate staff assignments for shifts based upon patient acuity and staff competency.
Provide feedback to the Nurse Manager and/or House Supervisor on staffing of the unit. Assists with contacting staff for unit coverage as needed.
Human Resources:
Participates in peer interviews for potential new staff.
Provide suggestions and feedback to ED Leadership team for corrective actions or recognition of their staff members.
Clinical and Quality Performance:
Initiates shift huddle on the unit to form a team approach to care.
Ensures that staff have completed all required documentation including but not limited to Admission databases, home medication lists, nursing assessments, and interventions, Risk Master, and medication PPID (Positive Patient ID) processes.
Is an active participant in shared governance including unit-based counsel and peer review processes.
Staff Education:
Contributes to the professional development of self, peers, colleagues, and others by facilitating a positive orientation experience for our new employees through role modeling and the demonstration of our team-oriented environment.
Acts as a super-user on the unit and assists staff with various computer application uses.
Assists staff in competency validation for unit-based skills.
Resources:
Ensures staff have the tools and equipment needed to do their job.
Ensures tools and equipment are working properly and notifies the appropriate parties when repair is needed.
Patient Flow:
Ensures and promotes efficiency through ED throughput initiatives with timely discharges, timely bed assignments, and timely admissions from the ED.
When holding pts in the ED, works closely ED Leadership, physicians, and house supervisor on discharges and status changes to provide adequate bed availability to the ED. Ensures these processes are continuously followed even if patients are not in hold status.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
A graduate of an accredited school of nursing or degree program
Current Texas RN License or a Compact RN License from a NCLA Compact State
BLS certification
ACLS certification
PALS certification
