The role you’ll contribute: Residency Coordinator
The Residency Coordinator has responsibilities for the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and other post-graduate training programs. The focus is on the daily requirements of the residency program including the management of compliance with accreditation requirements, program recruitment, management of resident needs and schedules, management of scheduling for medical students and departmental activities. This position is responsible for all on-boarding and the recruiting process for new residents as well as the ongoing maintenance of all the stages of residency.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates the daily operations of the residency program office under the direct supervision of the Residency Program Director helping to support the academic and clinical needs of the Residents and Medical Students.
Supports Program Director, Chief Residents and Resident Physicians, to ensure a smooth and effective educational environment. Also supports the Faculty specific to their educational activities and their activities with Residents and Medical Students.
Comprehends training program regulations according to the appropriate accrediting body and integrates those requirements into the daily activities of the program. Requirements include monitoring resident compliance with academic requirements, compiling and submitting reports.
Coordinates intern/resident applicant interviewing process and match, including daily downloads from the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and/or other web sources, reviewing and screening applicants, coordination of interview schedules, producing reports on applicant interviews and scoring, and coordination of the program rank meeting and match day activates.
Maintains resident rotation schedules, evaluations, annual training requirements and portfolios in data entry systems as required by the accrediting body, the Program and Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center.
Assists Residency Program Director with the development and input of program documents such as the PIF, updates, curriculum vitas, curriculum, etc.
Supports program director in all programmatic activities such as scheduling resident intern, exams, and call schedules for residents, and PDO time for residents.
Has a thorough understanding of all basic standards as to advise program director on regulatory requirements and manages the on-call schedules to follow the regulatory requirements for residency work hour limits.
Organizes and reviews remedial plans when needed, keeps individual files on all residents to include their evaluations from various rotations, both formative and summative evaluations.
Has a formal line of communication to the Director of Graduate of Medical Education to ensure regulatory aspects of the residency.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Associate’s degree or five years of equivalent experience
Ability to provide leadership, direction and solve complex problems
Organizational / multitasking skills
Critical-thinking / problem-solving skills
Customer service / teamwork, tact and conflict resolution
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or comparable education
Coordination and/or Management level experience
Medical terminology knowledge
