Position Summary: The Senior Litigation and Regulatory Counsel within MultiCare Legal Services assists MultiCare business leaders and provides legal analysis and support across the organization on complex litigation, claims, operational and regulatory matters, including litigation matters, internal and external investigations, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance in new and emerging business lines and service offerings, and oversees legal support for mission-critical functions related to Quality & Safety. The incumbent will have primary responsibility for supporting and overseeing a range of litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters.
Working closely with business partners to set and employ litigation strategy to drive cases to an efficient resolution through settlement or trial.
Investigating facts and identifying and preparing fact and expert witnesses.
Preparing submissions to courts, arbitration panels and regulators.
Providing practical and thoughtful advice on business initiatives.
Selecting and actively partnering with outside counsel in all aspects of the litigation to represent MultiCare's interests. Additionally, the incumbent serves as a subject matter expert, educational resource, problem solver and strategic advisor to MultiCare business leaders and colleagues on a broad range of medical-legal issues; assists business leaders and outside consulting resources in coordinating the legal aspects of healthcare system operations, and engagement and oversight of outside counsel and consulting resources as needed; provides research, analysis and analytical support for business planning, strategy deployment and ongoing healthcare delivery activities.
Minimum Requirements: - Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a health system corporate legal department or law firm with significant involvement in combination of regulatory, compliance, risk management, insurance, quality and safety, employment and contractual issues/matters and additional experience with health care transactions, joint ventures, affiliations, mergers and acquisitions, and governance matters
Education/Licenses/Certifications: - Juris Doctorate (JD) from accredited law school- Licensed to practice law in the state of Washington
