Full time position responsible for the supervision and coordination of comprehensive hospice services to patients and families who are receiving care in the Center for Comfort Care and Healing. The Director of Nursing Services for the Center for Comfort Care & Healing is accountable for assuring that qualified, competent staff provides interdisciplinary, coordinated care to patients and caregivers 24 hours a day. He/she is responsible for the quality of care provided to our patients and families in compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies, and costs related to clinical care needs. Responsibilities for the overall hospice inpatient facility's nursing services include:
Coordination of professional and non-professional nursing services provided;
Ensuring and maintaining quality standards of professional practice;
Development and implementation of patient care policies with Administrator;
Development and implementation of the hospice inpatient facility infection control and hospice inpatient facility safety policies;
Consulting with other interdisciplinary team members regarding patient care;
Ensuring patient centered plan of care is disseminated to other health care facilities upon transfer of patient;
Direct evaluation of the clinical competence of assigned nursing personnel, professional and nonprofessional, and participation with appropriate supervisory staff in the evaluation of other direct service staff;
Overseeing recruiting, hiring, and retention of nursing staff, ensuring the employment of qualified clinical staff;
Providing orientation and supervision of nursing staff & CNA oversight after the first 3 months;
Promoting professional growth of staff including in-service education with current reference materials and continuing education programs;
Directing, reviewing, and evaluating nursing staff performance in collaboration with Administrator;
Role-modeling for Center staff, promoting and exhibiting a work environment that demonstrates Regional Hospice's Code of Business Ethics;
Maintaining professional development.

Qualifications:
Registered Nurse with current license in the state of CT REQUIRED;
Master's degree in nursing + at least three (3) years of full-time clinical experience in nursing, two of which were in a hospice or home health agency, or, Bachelor's degree in nursing + at least five (5) years of full-time clinical experience in nursing with at least three (3) years experience in a hospice or home health agency REQUIRED;
At least three (3) years of supervisory experience, preferably in a hospice or home health agency REQUIRED;
Advanced credentials in hospice & palliative care (CHPN) preferred;
Knowledge of applicable CT and federal regulations REQUIRED;
Strong interpersonal, communications, and leadership skills REQUIRED.
