Occ Summary
Assume respons ibilities for direct nursing care of assigned patientsunder the supervis ion of a registered nurse or physician in patient carearea. Provides nur sing services to patients and families in accordancewith the scope of th e LPN as defined by the North Carolina Board ofNursing.
Wor k Performed
Provide and document direct nursing care of assigned patients under thesupervision of a registered nurse or physician. Nursi ng care is guidedby the physician orders and the nursing plan of care. P atient responseto care is reported to a registered nurse for evaluation, interventionand modification of the plan of care. Assist other health c are personnelin the delivery of patient care.Assist physicians and other nursing personnel in the performance ofvarious diagnostic procedures.Ev aluate nursing care with emphasis on nursing procedures and patientrespo nses; assist in the delivery of nursing care and selection ofnursing priorities.Assist in the development and implementation of general policies andprocedures to provide for the emotional and physical comfort and saf etyof patients; participate in the formulation of new policies.Participa te in maintaining the environment ofcare including equipmentand other m aterial resources.Participate in the identification of clinical or opera tional performanceimprovement opportunities and assists in performance i mprovementactivities.Assist with control of material resources and maintenance; assist inappraisal of effectiveness of material and equipment an d report anyequipment malfunctions to charge nurse.Participate in in-ser vice education programs and other conferenceswithin the service.Assist i n the training of new employees.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
