Schedule: Full Time

Shift: 10:30am-7:00pm (some days as early as 8am and as late as 11pm)

The role you’ll contribute:

AdventHealth switchboard operators compassionately service an average of 95,000 calls per month for 8 hospitals in a 24/7 environment and provides support upon request for multiple CFD-S standalone facilities. Operators frequently engage in essential communications with hospital leaders, physicians, clinical staff and security. Accountable to communicate vital information to maintain the safest environment for patients and employees. Critical responsibilities to learn and communicate up to 15 emergency codes which may include contacting a 911 operator. Make accurate overhead page announcements and send emergent mass communication text messages timely. Is the first point of contact for initiation of Code Blue & Rapid Response Team response. Numerous hours are covered with the single operator on shift being accountable for responding immediately and expertly to emergent and life threating situations. Contacts after-hours on-call staff and coordinates response to patient care request. Valuable qualities the switchboard operator utilizes is their knowledge, hospital experience and sound judgement towards quick and appropriate action in situations that impact patient and employee safety. Maintains flexibility in work schedule and performs tasks to meet the needs of CFD-S Operator Services. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

·       Utilizes various computer applications to include primary and back-up switchboard phone systems and multiple emergency notification systems to process calls and alarms.

·       Initiates and coordinates accurate communications for emergent events to include: code blue, code pink, code orange, code yellow, code green, code black, code red, code purple, code stemi, rapid response, active shooter and telephone outage escalation.

·       Monitors multiple alarm systems to include fire, oxygen and elevators in the PBX area and notifies appropriate personnel when an alarm is received.

·       Utilizes on-call systems and various on-call procedures to contact multiple departments after hours upon request.

·       Maintains an understanding of hospital departments and surrounding areas, stays informed of all changes, reads email in a timely manner and updates resource documents frequently as needed.

·       Demonstrates communication skills appropriate to adolescent, adult and geriatric caller interactions using service standards and service recovery. Connects caller with Interpreter Services when warranted to assist a call.

·       Adheres to AdventHealth policies on attendance and tardiness.

·       Completes and achieves a passing result on 90-day operator assessment and annual operator assessment tool.

·       Completes all educational requirements successfully and in a timely manner.
