As a Wound Care Ostomy Nurse at Beebe Healthcare, you will work weekdays either 7am-3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm. and serve as a vital clinical resource, delivering expert consultation and management for individuals with ostomies, fistulas, complex wounds, and skin integrity challenges. Working closely with patients across our community—primarily adults and geriatrics—you will provide specialized, direct care that promotes healing, comfort, and quality of life.
In this impactful role, you'll collaborate across disciplines to support individualized treatment plans, educate patients and caregivers, and uphold the highest standards in wound and skin care. Your work will reflect and reinforce the mission and values of both Beebe Medical Center and the Wound Care Services Department.

Responsibilities
Evaluates and manages plan of care for individuals with wound and ostomy problems in the outpatient setting, inpatient setting, and BMC community as scheduled.
Implements, evaluates and revises standards of care and clinical practice protocols for wound and ostomy management.
Documents patient care thoroughly and accurately to meet regulatory requirements.
Participates in monitoring and evaluation activities which assess and improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
Utilizes problem solving skills to identify emerging patient care problems.
Participates in quality improvement programs.
Collaborates with other team members to identify and address causative and contributing factors to skin breakdown as well as systematic factors affecting wound healing.
Designs a multidisciplinary plan of care that provides for optimal patient outcomes. Provides education to patients, the community and other health care providers as deemed necessary and/or appropriate.
Collaborates with acute care, home care and others in the Beebe Medical Center network in implementation and evaluation of the plan of care.
Serves as a resource to other Beebe Medical Center health care professionals within area of expertise.
Participates in new technology and product evaluation as requested.
Participates actively in Beebe Medical Center committees and meetings as deemed appropriate by supervisor.
Maintains membership in and participates in professional organizations.
Maintains current knowledge base by participating in a minimum of 10 hours of wound or ostomy continuing education (to include a minimum of 3 hours in ostomy) as approved by supervisor annually.
Performs other duties within the scope of practice as designated by supervisor.
Qualifications
2 years experience in specialty practice area.
Experience in Patient Education.
Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrates emotional maturity and stability.
Demonstrates commitment to quality patient care.
WOCN Certification or must obtain certification within 15 months of hire.

Beebe Healthcare serves the Sussex County community with a medical center located in beautiful, historic Lewes, Delaware, and convenient outpatient locations throughout the county. Founded in 1916 by two physician brothers, Drs. James Beebe and Richard C. Beebe, the medical center in Lewes is a 210-licensed-bed, not-for-profit seaside community hospital. Beebe's specialized service lines include cardiac and vascular, surgical services, oncology, women's health, and orthopaedic services.
